Our President

Ed Lutz has served as NYLIB’s President since 2019. Ed has had a distinguished career in banking that has spanned over five decades. His journey into the financial sector began in 1968 when he joined the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) as an Assistant Bank Examiner. At the FDIC, Ed rose through the ranks to become the Regional Director for the New York Region, a position he held with distinction for four years.

After departing from the FDIC, Ed has served as a strategic consultant to community banks, as a community bank executive, and as a community bank director. In his strategic consulting role, Ed has provided advice on a wide range of strategic and regulatory matters to numerous community banks. In addition, from 2013 to 2018, Ed led Greater Hudson Bank as its President and Chief Executive Officer, a position he held until the bank's acquisition by ConnectOne Bank. Ed also has served as a Director for three community banks (and as Chairman of the Audit Committee for two). Ed currently serves as a Director and as Chairman of the Audit Committee for First Central Savings Bank.

From his humble beginnings as an Assistant Bank Examiner, to his influential role as FDIC Regional Director, to his service as a community bank consultant, executive, and director, Ed’s remarkable career journey is a testament to his exceptional leadership, expertise, and unwavering dedication to community banking. Ed is a staunch advocate for community banks in the tri-state area, and NYLIB is proud to call him our President.
